Just plug in your destination, or if you enabled the current location, you would be able to see gas prices and the distance on the app. You can filter it to show the closest gas station or the cheapest gas price.

Gas Guru is another app that helps you find the cheapest gas. Just put in your location and fuel type. You can also sort the results based on price or distance. It works the same as Gas Buddy, but the only difference is where they get their data. Gas Buddy’s data is from users while that of Gas Guru is from the Oil Price Information Service.

Waze is more than just a gas price app. It provides traffic and road updates and even alerts you of speed traps, accidents, and ambulances. You can also get tips on the best routes to avoid tolls, the best time to leave home or work, and the best speed limit in order to save more on gas.

MapQuest allows you to compare gas prices at nearby gas stations just by plugging in your destination. Besides gas prices, Mapquest also provides real-time traffic updates, and when you are on your way to visit family and friends, you can share your ETA with them.

One of the perks of being an AAA member is access to the AAA TripTik. It is a trip planner app that helps you find the cheapest gas. It helps you plan your trip efficiently by finding the best places to stop for gas and the route that uses the least amount of gas. Google is everywhere, including saving on gas. With the Google Maps app, you will be able to search any business along the way, not only gas prices. It also provides real-time traffic updates and offers alternative routes.

Fuel Rewards is a loyalty program that helps you save money when you gas up at a Shell station nationwide. You can earn at least 5 cents per gallon every time you fill-up. You can also earn when you dine, shop, or book travel through participating vendors.

Get Upside Gas App
GetUpside is another way to save on gas by helping you find the best offer. Just use the app to find the participating vendor (over 650 gas stations) that has the best offer. Click to claim the offer then fill your tank. Do not forget your receipt because you need to upload that to get your savings.
Generally, you will be able to save up to $0.25 per gallon. You can then redeem your money through Paypal cash.

Credit Cards
I know credit cards are not technically apps for saving gas, but I included it here because it is a great way to reduce the cost of filling your tank or add miles and points to your bank to cover future travel costs. The Discover it Cash Back card and the Chase Freedom card helped me save on my gas expenses through cashback and points.

Route4Me
Route4me is another way to save money when you are planning to hit multiple destinations or have to make a lot of stops. Just plug in your destination, and it will provide you with the shortest and most cost-effective route.

Carticipate is another fun way to save money on gas by carpooling with other people. You just have to provide your information on where you’re going on your phone or the Facebook Page, and you will be matched with other carticipants.

Fuelly
Fuelly is one of the most popular car maintenance tracking apps out there. It works by keeping track of your vehicle’s fuel economy and maintenance records. You will be able to save money with the gas mileage calculations and reminders.
The app has a free version, but you have to deal with ads. If you don’t want ads, the app costs $0.99/mo or $7.99/year.

Pure Gas
If you prefer ethanol-free gas, Pure Gas is the app for you. It provides you with a list of ethanol-free gas stations near you. Just click on the one you like, and you’ll be provided with driving directions. Ethanol is not bad for your car, but there are benefits of ethanol-free gas fuel.

ReceiptPal
ReceiptPal can save you money through your gas receipts. Just snap a photo of your valid receipt, and you will earn points. Points can be redeemed for Amazon gift cards.
