Whew! They were not kidding when they said blogging is hard. No wonder statistics show that new bloggers usually give up before they even reach their six-month of blogging.
I just crossed the third-month line and now on the fourth. If I had not made any progress on my third month, I would have given up.
However, I finished my third month of blogging on a good note because I was able to reach one of my goals which were to MAKE my first $100!

But before I will dive into how I got my first $100, if you haven’t yet, check out:
Before we go into my blogs’ stats, let me tell you a little bit about My Worthy Penny.
My Worthy Penny was born as a result of our quest for financial freedom. I decided to start a blog on personal finance not only to hold myself accountable but also because I wanted to share my journey to others who have the same goal.
I wanted you to learn from my mistakes and from my successes. In that way, I will be able to help you reach your financial goals through my own little ways.
Why Am I Sharing My Blog Income Report?
First and foremost, I am sharing my blog income report as a way of documenting my blogging journey. By doing this, I will be able to have something to look back on with regard to the goals and strategies that I did.
Secondly, I want to instill trust and give inspiration. I want to show you that I am also a real human being, who is starting from zero. I am a wife who works a full-time job.
Even with my very busy schedule, I still make sure that I have time dedicated to this blog.
Finally, I want to motivate myself. By posting this blog income report, I am motivated to put in the work and take blogging seriously. It makes me hold myself accountable.

What Happened This Month?
If you haven’t started your blog yet, check out my post on how to easily start a new blog from scratch.
As I have mentioned in my second-month blog income report, I will be focusing on affiliate marketing in my third month because I want to boost my income.
I thought that maybe a little boost in my income will keep me motivated and keep going.
So, I probed more into learning affiliate marketing and I found Michelle’s Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing really helpful. I was able to learn a lot from her course and implemented her actionable steps right away.
My biggest affiliate income last month came from promoting Freshbooks. I had a very good experience promoting them because their affiliate manager is very helpful.
They also have awesome landing pages which makes it easy to promote them. If you are interested, check out their affiliate program.
Social Media Scheduler
Aside from writing blog posts about various affiliate programs, I also started promoting them on social media.
And my biggest game-changer was the use of a social media scheduler. My productivity immensely improved by using Tailwind and Smarterqueue.
I know that most of you might be wondering why I have two social media scheduler. It’s simply because each of these schedulers has its own strengths and I do not think I can do without any of them.
Tailwind
I use Tailwind mainly to stay active on my Pinterest account. And what I like about Tailwind is that it makes pinning so much easier. I can batch a bunch of pins and Tailwind post the pins at the times my audience is active.
Therefore, I do not have to worry about when is the best time to post a pin. Tailwind is totally a time-saver.
Another feature of Tailwind that I like is their board insights. I am a member of a lot of group boards and I want to make sure that I am not wasting my time on group board that is not performing well.
By using Tailwind, I am able to check the performance of a group board and choose the group boards that I want to keep.
Smarterqueue
On the other hand, I use Smarterqueue for my Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and also my Pinterest account. My favorite about this social media scheduling tool is its Evergreen feature.
By using this feature, I do not have to worry about my old posts being forgotten.
You can try Smarterqueue FREE for 14 days, but if you use my affiliate link, you will be able to try them FREE for 30 days. And don’t worry, they won’t ask for your credit card.
I found that having a social media scheduler is very helpful in affiliate marketing. A scheduler allows me to just create my affiliate image, put it on an evergreen schedule and start earning.
I also learned that you do not even need a blog to do affiliate marketing, I can just link my post directly to the affiliate website.
If you want to learn more about affiliate marketing, check out Michelle’s Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing Course.
And if you are looking for affiliate companies to join, you can check out Shareasale and Flexoffers. Both of these companies accept new bloggers.
They have a lot of companies that you can apply to and start promoting as soon as you get accepted. But of course, only promote those products that you know for sure will help others.
Income
Although my income this month may not seem a lot, I am still very excited because I was able to make my first $100!
My earnings are very minimal but as I’ve said before I am doing this because I want to show you that I started from zero.
Although a lot of bloggers out there earned a lot in their first month of blogging, there are also those (including me) that take longer to make any.
Since I blog about personal finance and that includes making extra money online, I am including my earnings from the money-making apps that I use:
- Ebates
- Swagbucks
- Inbox Dollars
- Ibotta
- Checkout51
- Google Opinion Rewards
SUBTOTAL INCOME= $1.55
Please note that these are earnings, not actual payouts. Each app has its own payout threshold. I also earn gift cards from these apps but I am not going to include them on the total income.
- Fetch Rewards (Referral Code: AN3AJ)
- Shopkick (Referral Code: SHOP741145)
- Drop (Referral Code: d0m46)
- Receipt Pal
- Honey-this browser extension is my new favorite when shopping online; it automatically searches for coupons for me during checkout.
If you want to check out the above apps, I would appreciate it if you will use my referral codes.
Here are my earnings from each category.
- Ads: $46.48
- Affiliate Income: $52.00
TOTAL INCOME: $100.03
Very minimal but for me, it is very encouraging.
Expenses
My biggest expense this month is Grammarly. Their free version helped me a lot but I wanted the plagiarism feature and sentence structure improvement so I upgraded to their premium plan.
I am a subscriber with the companies listed below and they make up my monthly expenses. They offer free trials so you can try them out.
- Tailwind-you will get $15 credit when you use this link and a FREE trial
- Smarterqueue– you will get 30-day FREE trial instead of 14 just by using this link. No Credit Card Required during sign up.
- Convertkit-you can try them for 30 days
- Canva-you can try the FREE version which works just fine
I used Siteground for my blogging platform but it was already prepaid during my first month so I do not have to worry about it for the rest of the year.
I also renewed my PO Box this month.
TOTAL EXPENSES: $185.40
NET INCOME: -$85.10
As you can see I am still in the negative but looking on the brighter side, it is under $100 deficit. My goal is to do better next month.
Traffic and Metrics
My traffic this month is quite encouraging. I was able to double my second-month stats. However, I am still learning a lot along the way and I know I could do better.
I use Google Analytics for my data.

Page Views: 3,299
Visitors: 2,054
Most of my traffic still came from social media, but this time, Pinterest was the primary traffic driver.

Social Media
Since I focused more on affiliate marketing, I haven’t really worked on increasing my social media following, but I am happy with the result.
Pinterest: 4,372
Twitter: 7,710
Instagram: 329
Facebook: 586

Congratulations on having an awesome month! I love reading income reports from different bloggers because I am too new at this. So it’s refreshing to see everyone’s journey and how it may differ from my own. Thanks for sharing! Definitely pinning this for later as well.
Thanks o much for dropping by. Good luck on your blogging journey as well.
You’re doing so well! I can only hope to do as well as you! I am having trouble getting traffic to my blog some days, while other days it’s amazing!
I just wish it could be more consistent.
Thank you for sharing and long may this continue for you.
Thank you so much for saying that. Same here, no consistent traffic yet but we’ll get there, just keep pushing. 🙂
Hi! Thanks for sharing your income reports. It really motivated me to keep working on my goals. And I hope that you are able to complete your monthly goals. Best of luck!
Thank you for reading. 🙂
Way to go!
I’m curious, but what ad sites do you use for your ads?
Thank you 😊. I have Google adsense and media.net.
This is very inspiring – you are definitely crushing it! Thanks for sharing – I am still trying to balance working full-time and having a blog and really don’t have the time to put into it to make it what I want to be. It’s seriously a full-time job in itself.
Good luck with everything & thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Morgan! Yes, I agree it is a full-time job in itself. Good luck on your blogging journey as well.

Thank Rhema! Good Luck on your blogging journey as well 🙂
Really it’s motivate me alot keep sharing this stuffs . Very informative post for bloggers
This report is really encouraging to me personally. I thought it wasn’t possible to gain traffic from pinterest this year. But you’ve given me a bit of hope.
I don’t know if its possible, but can you tell me how you were able to get traffic from pinterest?
Thank you 🙂 I used Tailwind for Pinterest and I also do manual pinning for my own pins. That’s what I have been doing since day 1.
good job this past month! i’ll have to say that your IG and FB goals are a bit high. it’s pretty hard to get people to stay followers on IG and they rarely click back to your blog. at least facebook gives you a chance of reaching your website. my numbers are painfully slow on those platforms.
Yes, you are right, it is pretty hard. I will work on a more realistic goal next month. Thanks for pointing that out.
Great report! Its encouraging to see someone generating an income after three months.
Thanks 🙂 It was not easy.
I love the honestly inthis I come report and yes blogging is HARD . I work full time so I’m just stressed trying to get everything in order haha
It’s nice to know not everyone started there blog and then 30 days later able to quit their jobs because they made $7000 haha
Love the post 🙂
I hear ya, I get discouraged at times when I see those who made so much in a few months and here I am struggling to make a cent haha. But we got this! Thanks for reading 🙂
Wow you are so right! I find blogging harder than I expected, more the promoting side than the content creating though, I am super happy for you to finally see some real gains! 🙂
Yes, blogging is hard. Thanks for reading.
